SILICA

Operations OS

About

The operating system for physical commerce.

Silica unifies fleet logistics, live telematics, branded storefronts, and point of sale, so the businesses that move and sell physical goods can run on one source of truth instead of four disconnected tools.

Our story

Silica started with a simple observation: a mid-size distributor running delivery, a storefront, and a retail counter was stitching together four or five different tools, and none of them agreed on how much inventory was actually left. Orders got double-sold. Trucks ran routes that didn't make sense. Nobody had one number everyone trusted.

We built Silica as the layer underneath all of it: one data model for orders, inventory, vehicles, and customers, with logistics, telematics, storefronts, and POS as interchangeable modules on top. Today that same architecture runs fleets, stores, and registers for operations of every size, from single storefronts to multi-region distributors.

“We didn't want to build another dashboard. We wanted the dashboards to finally agree with each other.”

Milestones

Five years of moving and selling goods.

2021

Founded in Nairobi

Started with a single logistics pilot for a regional distributor tired of trucks and spreadsheets disagreeing.

2022

Telematics joins the platform

Distributors kept asking for raw vehicle data inside dispatch, not in a separate tool, so we built it in.

2023

Storefronts and POS ship

Online and in-person sales finally read and write the same inventory, in real time.

2024

1,000 fleets onboarded

Crossed 1,000 fleets across 20 countries, mostly through word of mouth between operators.

2025

Public API and webhooks

Opened the platform so customers could build directly on the same data model our own products use.

2026

38+ countries

Logistics, Telematics, Storefronts, and POS now run as one system for operations of every size.

What we believe

The principles behind the product.

Customer obsession

We sit inside dispatch calls and store back-offices before we write a line of code. The roadmap follows the work, not the other way around.

Move fast, stay honest

Speed is a feature, but not at the cost of trust. We ship quickly and tell customers the truth the moment something breaks.

Build for the edge cases

Physical commerce is messy: bad signal, offline registers, missed deliveries. We design for the exception, not just the happy path.

One system, not four

Every product shares the same data layer. We resist the temptation to bolt on disconnected tools, even when it would ship faster.
